RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON MERLOT 2018 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: Deep ruby in colour with a prominent crimson rim.
NOSE: Dark fruit aromas are complemented sweetly by secondary aromas of American oak, cigar box and fruitcake.
PALATE: Dark fruit and smooth, lingering tannins rounded off by oak notes and very well-balanced acidity.
PAIRING: Drinks well on its own, but pairs well with roasted lamb, steak and chicken, as well as dark chocolate.
AGEING: This wine is fine to drink right now, but can benefit from 5 to 7 years aging
Cabernet Sauvignon is known as the king of grapes. Hailing from the Bordeaux region of France, Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely planted grape variety in the world. Small, thick skinned berries allow for concentrated, deeply coloured wines and also resistance to a wide range of vineyard diseases.
On Mischa we select only the best grapes from our vineyards, thus creating only the best wines possible. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is left to mature to perfection using tight grained French and American oak.
Merlot is one of the 5 grape varieties used typically in Bordeaux blends but is also very popular as a single cultivar wine. Usually producing more delicate style red wines, Merlot typically blends very well with the bolder Cabernet Sauvignon.
At Mischa we blend a small amount of Cabernet Franc with our Merlot, and mature the wine in tight-grained French oak for 12 months to produce an absolute gem of a Merlot for everyone to enjoy.
