RESERVE GRENACHE 2020 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: Deep ruby in colour, yet not as darkly coloured as our other red wines.
NOSE: Ripe wild berries accompanied by a backdrop of rose petals, tobacco and cherries.
PALATE: Medium bodied, well balanced acidity and fresh, fruity tannins that drive flavours of subtle raspberry and white pepper to a long finish.
PAIRING: Drinks well on it’s own, but pairs with cured meats and lamb dishes. Decanting is recommended.
AGEING POTENTIAL: Ready to drink now. Will age well for 3 to 5 years.
Even though Grenache is known for creating lighter styled wines, the Mischa Reserve Grenache 2020 punches high above its fighting weight. We crafted a more serious style of Grenache to impress anybody who experiences it. Strong tannins and fresh acidity keep the fruity flavours going right into the long-lasting finish.
Grenache is a large lightly coloured red grape, that most likely originated in Spain. It is known for being a Rhône valley cultivar and usually produces delicate, lighter styled wines. Grenache is a late ripening grape that needs hot and dry weather to ripen optimally. This is why Grenache is very well suited for the hot and dry climate we find on Mischa Estate in Wellington, South Africa.
