MALBEC 2023 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: Deep, dark magenta with purple hues.
NOSE: Intense aromas of blackberry and blueberries transport the consumer straight into a berry orchard. The inky colour translates beautifully into the expression of dark fruit. Subtle notes of oak and cocoa do wonders for the complexity of this wine. This wine has the drinker hooked long before the first sip is even taken.
PALATE: This is a full-bodied wine that is silky smooth, yet has ripe and grippy tannins that develop seamlessly with flavours of dark, wild berries and finishes with a hint of French oak. The long and satisfying finish is full of blueberry, oak spice, and cocoa.
PAIRING: Mischa Malbec drinks well on its own, but also compliments lean cuts of meat like flank, sirloin and skirt steak, chicken and other meats like lamb and pork. Pairs superbly with Italian food and with richer fish such as salmon.
AGEING POTENTIAL: This wine is ready for consumption now, but will benefit from 5 to 8 years of proper aging.
VITICULTURAL ANALYSIS
Malbec is a purple grape variety known for making inky dark wines with substantial tannins. It is one of the six cultivars allowed in a Bordeaux blend and was made famous in Argentina. On Mischa, we have a very small planting of Malbec, so the production of this awesome wine is extremely limited. Only 8 barrels were produced from the 2023 vintage, making the malbec the smallest part of the Mischa production, yet being one of the most special wines we have to offer.
