MERLOT 2019 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: This wine has a medium scarlet colour with a slightly brick-red rim.
NOSE: Primary aromas of raspberry, cherry and candy apple. Secondary flavours of cloves and flint linger with a finish of rose petals.
PALATE: A balanced, medium-bodied wine with flavours of wild berries and a fruity acidity finishes off with a hint of white pepper and oak followed by a long finish.
FOOD PAIRING: Grilled beef dishes and sweeter tastes like Turkish delight and milk chocolate.
VITICULTURAL ANALYSIS
Merlot is one of the 5 grape varieties used typically in Bordeaux blends, but is also very popular as a single cultivar wine. Primarily producing more delicate style red wines, it typically blends well with the bolder Cabernet Sauvignon.
At Mischa we blend a small amount of Cabernet Franc with our Merlot, then mature the wine in tight-grain French Oak for 12 months to produce an absolute gem for everyone to enjoy.
