PETITE SIRAH 2021 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: A deep, dark wine with a purple hue and a rich ruby rim.
NOSE: Plum and mulberry with secondary aromas of white pepper and tanned leather.
PALATE: A velvet and smooth mouthfeel with substantial tannins, flavours of plums and savoury spice with a long, satisfying finish.
PAIRING: Drinks well on its own, but pairs well with rich dishes such as lamb roast or ribeye steak and dark chocolate desserts.
AGEING POTENTIAL: Drinkable right now, can age 10 to 12 years.
VITICULTURAL ANALYSIS
A black grape variety originally planted is the Rhône Valley in France and is also known as Durif. The cultivar is known to produce intensely coloured and highly tannic wines and thus is usually used in blends to bulk up a wine’s colour or phenolics.
Mischa is quickly becoming famous for our world class Petite Sirah. The full-bodied Mischa Reserve Petite Sirah 2021 is the result of extensive care given to a small block of grapes. Very small, dark and thick skinned berries result in an intense wine packed full of complex flavours and amazing drinkability. The substantial phenolic expression in this wine gives this wine proper age-ability so it can be cellared to become a future classic.
On Mischa we produce a deeply coloured Petite Sirah which also expresses beautiful, fruity flavours. This is why our Petite Sirah can be bottled as a single cultivar wine, simply because it is too good not to.
