Mischa is quickly becoming famous for our world-class Petite Sirah. This full-bodied wine is the result of extensive care given to a small block of grapes. Very small, dark, and thick-skinned berries result in an intense wine packed full of complex flavours and amazing drinkability. The substantial phenolic expression in this wine gives it proper age-ability so this wine can be cellared to become a future classic.

PETITE SIRAH 2023 QUICK NOTES

APPEARANCE:  A deep, dark wine with a wonderful purple hue and a rich ruby rim.

NOSE:  Lush aromas of plum and mulberry are noted first, and gentle secondary aromas of white pepper and tanned leather balance out this deeply complex wine. Generous decanting or swirling in the glass, allows it to truly demonstrate its full potential and rewards the drinker with an intense experience of dark fruit and soft oak.

PALATE:  Velvety and smooth with substantial tannins, make this wine an experience to remember. Plums and savoury spice guide the development of this on a seamless journey through the mid-palate to a long, satisfying finish. Giving the wine proper time to breathe, releases more and more fruit flavours that can keep any connoisseur enticed bottle after bottle.

PAIRING:  This bold wine drinks well on its own but pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as lamb roast or ribeye steak with a creamy mushroom or pepper sauce. It also works well with dark chocolate desserts.

AGEING POTENTIAL: The 2023 Petite Sirah is perfectly drinkable right now, but can benefit from 10 to 12 years of proper bottle aging.

VITICULTURAL ANALYSIS

Petite Sirah is a black grape variety originally planted in the Rhône Valley in France and is also known as Durif.

The cultivar is known to produce intensely coloured and highly tannic wines and thus is usually used in blends to bulk up a wine’s colour or phenolics. On Mischa, we produce a deeply coloured Petite Sirah which also expresses beautiful, fruity flavours.

This is why our Petite Sirah can be bottled as a single cultivar wine, simply because it is too good not to.
