ROUSSANNE 2024 QUICK NOTES
APPEARANCE: Delightfully clear and bright, with a predominant golden hue.
NOSE: 2024 Marks only the fifth time that an unwooded style of Roussanne was made on Mischa Esate. Rich and fresh aromas of honey, pear and yellow peach can be picked up and is a testiment to the choice of an unwooded wine. As the wine develops in the glass, subtle biscuity aromas show themselves as this wine is also rich in secondary aromas.
PALATE: The palate of the 2024 Roussane shows off with a fresh and zesty acidity as citrus flavours plays with the senses. Orange peel and lemon zest are at the forefront while more delicate honeybush rounds out the palate. As a natural characteristic of Roussanne, a subtle smoothness and oaky undertone balances the acidity for a truly complex experience.
PAIRING: This wine drinks its best on warm summer days, lounging by the pool, but it can also pair beautifully with seafood dishes like spicey paella and creamy baked fish. Cheese platters with rich confident cheeses will bring out a whole new dynamic to this wine.
AGEING: This wine has the potential to be cellared for 3 to 5 years.
VITICULTURAL ANALYSIS
Roussanne is a white wine variety originally from the Rhône region in France. It’s known for its Russet colour grape, intrinsic ability to age, and difficulty to grow. Because of this, it’s rare as a single cultivar and often produced in a heavily oaked style.
Mischa’s 2024 Roussanne is unoaked so you can experience the full range of beautiful, bold flavours this elegant Roussanne has to offer. Out of 14 vintages, this Roussanne is only the 5th to be placed into the bottle and in very limited quantity.
